Berlin - One week on from the cable fire that resulted in huge disruption of the eastern section of Berlin's Ringbahn, S41 and S42 trains are now running again between Ostkreuz and Treptower Park, the Berlin S-Bahn confirmed on Monday morning.

Not everything is back to normal just yet though. The S85 line is still completely out of service, and the S8 and S9 lines remain disrupted, with trains only running to Schöneweide station for passengers travelling from the southern end of both lines. On the S8, normal service on the line heading north then resumes between Greifswalder Straße and Birkenweder.

Anyone wanting to take the S9 out to Spandau will need to use the replacement shuttle service to Ostkreuz. Elsewhere, replacement bus services are running at 15 minute intervals from Treptower Park, Plänterwald and Baumschulenweg stations.

If you're affected by the disruption and need to take the replacement bus, find the stops you need on Puschkinallee for Treptower Park (for buses 165, 166 and 265), on Köpenicker Landstraße for Plänterwald (for buses 165 and 166) and in front of the S-Bahn station itself for Baumschulenweg.

On Monday last week, extremists protesting the eviction of the Liebig 34 squat are suspected of committing an arson attack on S-Bahn cable connections near Frankfurter Allee station in Friedrichshain. The subsequent extensive disruption to S-Bahn services was caused by the repair work necessitated by the fire.
